Taking Responsibility

With all of the tragic events that have taken place over the last several months, I have again come to realize just how many of us do not take responsibility for our own actions. We we look at the tragic events that have occurred, such as the shooting in Arizona, I listen to all of the reports and often hear a common them. It was the fault of someone else. Some are saying that it is the fault of the legislators who have not passed stricter gun laws, some say it was the fault of the mental health profession for not helping this person. The fact is it is only the fault of the person who has done the tragic event. Could some things have been done that would have prevented these situations? Yes, but the fact is we have no control over a persons thoughts or actions. If a person CHOOSES to do an evil act then that person will commit that act. There will always be ways around the roadblocks.  When we choose to place blame the only outcome is teaching people they do not have to take responsibility for their actions. This type of thinking has gone on for years and it is very noticeable in schools. Children do not take responsibility for their actions in the class room and parents are very quick to blame the teacher. We can see this in our court system. We are having too many people who are suing someone for something that they did and it ended bad. The courts are allowing this behavior and it is costing us all in the end with higher prices for everything.
I just believe that if we would all take responsibility for our own actions then we would have a society that would be in much better shape and a world that we could live in as neighbors and friends.
